World Bank Sponsored Skills Development Program (SDP)

Strongly believing in the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, HIS is a partner of the World Bank financed Skills Development Project (SDP) and has successfully implemented more than 40 programs in the following fields:

·         Mechanical maintenance of machines and production facilities

·         Electrical maintenance of motors, transformers and power generators

·         Operation and maintenance of automatic control equipment and components

·         Operation and maintenance of overhead cranes and material handling equipment

·         Operation and maintenance of industrial furnaces

·         Planning and implementation of preventive maintenance programs

·         Troubleshooting and repair of rotating machinery

·         Mechanical, electrical and electronic measuring instruments

·         Electrical and mechanical maintenance of printing machines

·         Reverse engineering

The aim of the project is to help reorganize Egypt’s technical and vocation training system in order to achieve greater economic growth, increased competitiveness and labor productivity, and promote social inclusion and equal opportunities.  The project is designed to establish a training system responsive to labour market needs and to focus on its financial reform and the development of the private sector. In this respect the World Bank finances 90% of the training cost, while the beneficiary finances the rest.
