E-Learning for Lifelong Learning
The amount of knowledge available to our society is increasing exponentially, while the half-life of knowledge is decreasing dramatically. Especially in technical domains there is a dire need to keep up with the fast-moving technological changes. Changes are taking place at such a rate, that it is not sufficient anymore to learn something in one’s youth and then be able to apply it for the rest of one’s life. From there arose the concept of Lifelong Learning.
Lifelong learning can be described as a deliberate progression throughout the life of an individual, where the initial acquisition of knowledge and skills is reviewed and upgraded continuously, to meet the challenges set by an ever changing society.
HIS has clearly recognized the concept of Lifelong Learning and has started to introduce some specific measures that combine the advantages of e-learning and traditional face to face learning in the so called blended learning settings.E-Learning Content Development & Learning Culture
On behalf of InWEnt gGmbH, one of the official non-profit German development agencies, Hegazy Industrial Services (HIS) together with its German partner institution, Institute for Educational Transfer (IBT) organized a training course entitled “E-Learning Content Development & Learning Culture” for participants from both the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Education.
The programme comprises a two-week workshop in Cairo, a ten-week online-seminar and then a one-week final workshop in Cairo (blended learning). An e-learning product accompanied work in the seminar. During the online-seminar participants are at their working place.
Since HIS also strongly believes in the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training, we have addressed the important topic of Management of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions using this blended learning scenario.
